Life’s too short to build pretend websites, so I decided to create a real e-commerce website.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC) all Village Web Company’s profits are used to offer free workshops and activities to help people learn digital skills. In addition to running these events, Village Web Company also offers work placements and internships for those starting their career in tech. These placements offer valuable opportunities for people to develop the skills they need, but it isn’t always appropriate to let somebody on a placement work on client projects.
Selling physical products is a great way to raise funds and online shops provide an amazing environment to help those on our work placements understand the skills needed to build online shops, monitor their performance and to drive traffic to them. This website is an ideal environment for future web developers and digital marketers to get hands on experience.
As a social enterprise, Village Web Company’s profits are ploughed back into our work fighting digital exclusion, so every purchase from our digital themed gift shop helps to provide free workshops that help people get online.
